Motivation
editIn Memberships of persons and organizations is used often series ordinal (P1545) in the moment as membership number. This isn't correct, because series ordinal (P1545) is an ordinal, and membership numbers mustn't be ordinals. They also can contain letters or spaces and so on. And I don't see another property for this purpose. Balû (talk) 16:30, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
Discussion
edit- Support Yes this seems to be something missing. ArthurPSmith (talk) 20:28, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

- Comment At face value it looks like a good idea, however this might be the wrong way to go about it. If Wikidata should list member numbers, the organization should be notable and the member number relevant, and if the organization is notable it perhaps ought have it's own identifier. Otherwise member numbers is something that should not be listed. A generic property for member numbers would only make sense if this info was considered to be notable most of the time, which is probably not the case. - In Wikidata all organizations are notable. But also if it wouldn't be, there are for example a vast number of notable (within the scope of Wikipedia) sport organizations, which all have official member numbers of their members at least here in Germany. I don't think it's reasonable, to create own properties for each of them. --Balû (talk) 14:13, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Besides: I plan to import a big amount of German sports club data from my private database to wikidata and the membership number in a sports organization is the only distinct identifier to avoid duplicates. --Balû (talk) 14:21, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
