•  Comment Though I support this proposal, I am wondering whether you can further generalise this proposal, so that it can be used to other identifier like format identifiers. Image formats like BMP, JPEG, executable files like EXE, ELF have string identifiers at the beginning of the file to distinguish them. So I would propose some names like 'Information format identifier' or 'format identifier'. John Samuel 14:30, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
  •  Comment @Giovanni Alfredo Garciliano Diaz: @Jsamwrites: file format identification pattern (P4152) already exists for identifying file formats by a regular expression (also see regular expression syntax (P4240) as a qualifier to this property).     • @Giovanni Alfredo Garciliano Diaz: @Pixeldomain: Then in that case, I am wondering whether how to use file format identification pattern (P4152) in the case of partitions (since files and partitions are two different concepts). I would rather suggest to rename a generic property like identification pattern, so that we can use it for many other purposes, not just for partitions. John Samuel 22:20, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
      • @Pixeldomain: @Jsamwrites: I think this proposal and file format identification pattern (P4152) are quite different. Both properties are identifiers, but, files and partitions are different concepts: this property proposal would use qualifiers like partition table, for indicate what partition table uses that id, file format identification pattern (P4152) would use others, and so on.
