Motivation

edit

This is a common aggregate statistic in motorsports. Podium finishes are a discrete and widely cited statistic, making it perfect for a property. It cannot be reached by calculation reliably for several reasons: 1) The database of individual events is incomplete, thus counting the number of entities for which a driver finishes on the podium will not capture the correct total. 2) For many series, especially historically, detailed event records are incomplete (not just on WD, but in the public record in general), whereas aggregate counts are available in some sources. 3) Several sources only provide aggregate totals for a career or season, and not individual event details. Thus an aggregate podium finish total is necessary to capture this information. Josh Baumgartner (talk) 00:05, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

edit

Comment Michael Schumacher (Q9671) has 155 podium finishes, not 91. 91 is the number of wins. Jackie Stewart (Q3188) has 43 podium finishes, not 27 (the number of wins). UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 05:02, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
