Motivation edit

voice type (P412) might seem suitable for this, but it addresses another point. For prononciation files, I think it would be good to have an easy way to distinguish them. Beyond male voice (Q55164632), female voice (Q50810224), maybe other values are needed. (Add your motivation for this property here.)

Comment what is the point of this property : record the gender of the person who speaks/sings ? or record the perceived gender of the voice ? I know many women whose voice cannot be recognized as female and men whose voice are generally considered female - what would this property add that voice type (P412) doesn't ? --Hsarrazin (talk) 06:53, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- I think it would be good to be able to select the pronunciation files depending on the gender of the speaker('s voice). voice type (P412) is meant for a different aspect. I do agree that we might not able to add a value for all voices. --- Jura 06:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose per Hsarrazin. Such a property should also be expressed in a way that is more sensitive to transgender and non-binary people. Comment In some languages, certain aspects about the speaker (sometimes including the speaker’s gender or related concepts) are of grammatical import—and might hence be relevant for verbal voice samples and the like.
