I'm a newer user to Wikidata so maybe I'm wrong for putting this here instead of Property proposal but I am due to the fact I'm making a suggest to change/convert the Birth Order Property, as currently it only has 4 "part of" properties for the first through fourth born, when there are examples of notable people who are are of different orders, such as Sonny Liston who is, according to wikipedia is 24th born but not the eldest, and Thomas Edison who is the eldest and 7th born. I brought this up on the wikidata discord channel, and @Fralambert: brought up the idea of a series ordinal property for the matter, instead have having to create 50+ items of increasingly less use.
Another, probably less of a fundamental issue of a property issue, is the potential issue of an individual having more than one "Nth born". For example, Person A has 7 children, the first three were a product of Person A and Person B, then another four were a product of Person A and Person C, resulting in Child A, Child B, Child C from the first relationship and Child D, Child E, Child F and Child G from the 2nd relationship. and that's just of true biological children, nevermind adopted children. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akaibu1 (talk • contribs) at 19:28, 11 December 2023 (UTC).[reply]
- I just use series_ordinal=1 series_ordinal=2, at the parent, that way there is no need create "Nth born". See for instance: Max S. Freudenberg (Q20726682) --RAN (talk) 22:37, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
