Task/s: Import establishment dates, starting with organization (Q43229) and fixed construction (Q811430) from nowiki.
Code: Based on pywikibot. First draft: https://gist.github.com/danmichaelo/266a72a1f959fd9127383e2d4acd1453
Function details: The plan is to import dates from "… established in …" categories, starting with the category tree companies by establishment date at nowiki. If a category member is a page with a wikidata item with no statement for start time (P580) or any of the underproperties, it will add inception (P571) YEAR, using the year from the category. Example edit (based on the fact that the article is part of no:Selskaper etablert i 2000 – Companies established in 2000).
I'm starting with organization (Q43229) and fixed construction (Q811430) items since there seems to be a clear practice of using inception (P571) with these. For other things like places, I haven't seen inception (P571) so much used.
Question: Is it useful to add imported from Wikimedia project (P143), or is it just considered noise these days? --Danmichaelo (talk) 15:27, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, please add imported from Wikimedia project (P143); it makes the data verifiable at the least at the level of linking through to the wiki page. Thanks for doing this, it is useful. ArthurPSmith (talk) 20:28, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
