Task: semi-automated (supervised) adding of claims based on Japanese Wikipedia's categories
Code: mw:Manual:Pywikibot/claimit.py
Function details: The bot will add claims to existing items based on a list I provide, consisting of categories and implied Wikidata properties. Examples of what I will give to the bot are:
ja:Category:存命人物 (living people) - instance of (P31) and human (Q5)- ja:Category:新潟市の公立学校 (public schools in Niigata city) - located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) and Niigata (Q179691)
- ja:Category:1950年生 (born in 1950) - instance of (P31) and human (Q5)

- Done with more than 100 trial edits as of Sep 3, a week ago. Added one more example to the list above. whym (talk) 11:46, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- I found that ja:Category:存命人物 (living people) contains articles about groups of people, not just people. Would a group of people qualify to be human (Q5)? I think yes, but if not, I will not be feeding the first example above to the bot. whym (talk) 11:46, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- @Whym: a group of human should be p31:group of humans (Q16334295) (or a subclass of it) not of Q5 (this is often useful to distinguish humans for groups of people, like for maintenance/constraint violations). Also I have noticed that Japanse by-birthdate categories contain animals (example here). Your other proposals sound good.--Zolo (talk) 19:13, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- @Zolo: Thanks for the suggestions. Birth-year categories do contain a small percentage of notable animals. I could manually check and fix them after the bot's edits. I think it's doable as I expect the number of those animals are not too many. (As an exception, many racehorses have articles, but they are categorized into subcategories of those birth-year categories.) When I feel such fix is not manageable, I'll abandon the idea, though. I'll exclude the living people category this time, as the number of groups included in the category does not seem trivial. whym (talk) 10:40, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
