Wikidata:WikiProject Africa/Cabinets
This page summarizes efforts to add information about African Cabinets to Wikidata.
Data Model edit
Membership of a cabinet is expressed with position held (P39) linking to a position and qualifiers
- start time (P580) (mandatory)
- end time (P582) (unless the membership is still valid)
- of (P642) (linking to a country unless the position links to a country)
Entity types edit
Countries edit
Must be subclass of sovereign state (Q3624078)) in Africa (continent (P30)Africa (Q15)).
Positions edit
The positions linked by of (P642) must be subclass of minister (Q83307). New position items are likely required. Generic position items such as finance minister (position in a government responsible for economic and financial policies) are preferred over country-specific position items such as Minister of Finance (South Africa) unless country specific-positions already exist.
People edit
The main contribution of this project is addition of people to Wikidata (instance of (P31)Q5{{{3}}}). New people items are are only created automatically if no item with the same name exists, otherwise manual disambiguation is needed. People items should have at least:
- an English description (e.g "Mozambican politician")
- position statements
Sources edit
All statements should be referenced. Data about cabinet positions is collected in a research project by Felix S. Bethke (Q67514550) and published as research data Database of Cabinet Politics in Sub-Sahara Africa (Q96743901). This publication can be referenced with stated in (P248).
