Wikidata:WikiProject Chinese Culture and Heritage

In October 2020, a group of Chinese American librarians from several institutions formed a WikiProject: Chinese Culture and Heritage group and came up with some project ideas:

Collaborative learning

  • Working with Wikidata
  • SPARQL and using the Wikidata Query Service to do batch processes

Enhance existing Wikidata items, such as:

  • Add Chinese characters
  • Add additional statements
  • Add references
  • Add other IDs (like LC IDs, etc.)

Create new Wikidata items

  • Create data models for special projects
  • Create new Wikidata properties if needed (needs Wikidata community approval)

Since then, they have conducted several projects and have presented their findings about characteristics of Wikidata on Chinese related topics, challenges in creating Chinese related Wikidata entries, data model for Chinese women poets, and different visualizations using Wikidata SPARQL Query Service.
