Wikidata:WikiProject Railways/Properties for rolling stock

Hi all,
at the moment, the properties for railway rolling stock are pretty inconsistent. Here are those that already exist (aka, I've found). Please feel free to comment! --Jcornelius (talk) 22:51, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for new properties edit

  • I haven't found any good property to define the maximum speed of a rail vehicle. speed limit (P3086) seems to be for roads and railway lines, right?
  • Would be good to have something like "Current collector" or "Current pickup" (for the above mentioned example that would be pantograph (Q657874))
  • Would be good to have something like "Tractive effort" (for the above mentioned example that would be 300 kN)
  • Also something to define the acceleration (like "380 s (0–320 km/h)")
  • Would be good to have something like "Brake(s)" to define better what kind of brakes the vehicle has. Also something like "Braking deceleration".
  • I didn't find anything to define the railway coupling (Q1501648) and the "Pivot distance".
  • ... <feel free to add more>

Other stuff edit

  • I find it really hard to think about all the properties that are needed for a "complete" (whatever that means) rolling stock item. Does it make sense to have a least a minimum of ~10 properties that every rolling stock item should have? Something like a template? --Jcornelius (talk) 22:51, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think that this is helpful. There is a possibilty to create such an item with a form using Cradle. I can help you to create the Form. This is a example for such a form to create a item about railway stations. [1]--Hogü-456 (talk) 20:41, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
