The goal of WikiProject VandyCite is to add bibliographic data for Vanderbilt faculty publications to Wikidata. The ambition is to represent all Vanderbilt faculty, faculty publications, and clinical trials in Wikidata in order to improve the underlying quality of Wikidata as bibliographic and scholarly communications resource.

Background

edit

VandyCite follows in the path of WikiCite, a crowdsourced initiative to improve bibliographic metadata about scholarly publications. WikiCite aims to create a freely-accessible and openly-licensed database of all academic literature.

Project

edit

Participants in this project will create and improve bibliographic metadata for faculty and staff at Vanderbilt University. After creating a Wikidata account and adding a brief conflict of interest statement (see example here), participants should begin adding articles, books, and other scholarly bibliographic information (such as journals, publishers, etc.) to Wikidata.
