Who Am I
editSteve Baskauf, Data Science and Data Curation Specialist, Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries, Vanderbilt University
Projects
editI operate VanderBot, a non-autonomous script that scrapes data from Vanderbilt departmental websites and creates or updates researcher items in Wikidata. I use VanderBot to support the work of the VandyCite project. If you'd like to learn more about VanderBot, see this GitHub repo and check out our paper submitted to the Semantic Web Journal.
I'm a participant in two projects that use spin-offs of VanderBot to create and improve items in Wikidata related to the Fine Arts Gallery at Vanderbilt and the Vanderbilt Divinity Library's Art in the Christian Tradition (ACT) database.
I also participate in and support the Linked Data for Production WikiProject. I also participated in the Feb. 2020 Cost MOBILISE Wikidata Workshop looking at ways to use Wikidata with taxonomic data in the context of biodiversity informatics.
Conflict of Interest Statement
editI am a data science and data curation specialist at the Vanderbilt University Heard Libraries. Whenever I draw on information resources from the Jean and Alexander Heard Library to improve Wikidata entries, I follow Use Common Sense in general and the community guidelines against biased editing. If I appear to be violating those guidelines, please alert me on my talk page.
