edit@Fjjulien: what is the intended difference between this property and latest date (P1326), which has as an English alias 'latest end date'? (I guess I should have commented on the proposal about this lack of clarity in your motivation regarding it.) Mahir256 (talk) 23:17, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Mahir256 latest date (P1326) is meant to be a qualifier upon another point in time main statement or qualifier when that point in time is uncertain. This works fine as long as there's a single point in time (P585) qualifier and there's no ambiguity that P1236 is indeed further qualifying this existing qualifier. However, ambiguity starts to occur when P1326 is used in conjunction with start and end time properties: start time (P580), latest start date (P8555) or earliest end date (P8554). It's not always clear in these circumstances if P1326 is meant to qualify an existing time qualifier or if it is used in lieu of a proper end time property.
- Most importantly, P1326 is not a subproperty of end time (P582). If we want to be able to run queries asserting the validity of a set of statements based on their start and end time qualifiers, P1326 is of no use. That's why we needed latest end date (P12506).
