Mr. Skira visited Picasso daily in Paris and followed him to his studio on the French Riviera to per wade him to deliver the work.There were 125 copies, at $400 each, in the first edition. Only one copy was sold. Mrs. W. Averell Harriman later bought 40 copies to sell at her art gallery in New York. (English)

The picture had then been sold to another friend of Watson, Albert Skira,34 who sold it to a gallery in Zurich and from there the picture had reached the Kunstmuseum.35 Skira only narrowly avoided serious post-War repercussions with the Allied authorities for trading in looted art because Watson withdrew his allegations against him.36 (English)
