On July 17, 1945 in Sopot, he was arrested by functionaries of the communist Security Office. A month later, the Military District Court in Gdańsk sentenced him to death, loss of civil and honorary rights. The request for grace was rejected. The execution took place in the basement of the Gdańsk prison on August 28, 1946. In 1997, by the decision of the Gdańsk Provincial Court, the death sentence was posthumously annulled.
