Conflation

edit

Hi @Jahl de Vautban: This item stands for:

  • GND 102379491: Andron Historicus (aka Andron Paradoxographus; 3. Jh.v.Chr.)

Are you sure that he is identical with:

  • GND 102379483: Andron von Ephesos, Reiseschriftsteller (5. Jh.v.Chr.) [1]

@Kolja21: Hi! Well I am not sure, but the conflation if any preexisted my edits. Perseus seems to implies they are the same, but I cast doubt on the use of Smith's dictionnary ; RE on the contrary doesn't say a word on a paradoxographer, but it might be obsolete as well. I'm mostly confused about the existence of two FGrH values, but I am unable to access them now. Perhaps you or @Epìdosis: have per chance acces to Brill to check it ? --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 18:34, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Kolja21, Jahl de Vautban: FGrHist is the most up-to-date source (I have access to it) and it distinguishes them, so I splitted the item. Perseus seems to somehow conflate them, although it is mainly about Andron of Ephesus (Q75521912). --Epìdosis 20:32, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: thanks (sucks to be out of academia, so much things paywalled)! I think RE goes to Andron of Ephesus (Q75521912) then. --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 20:36, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Jahl de Vautban: Yes, I agree about RE of course! This Andron seems very much obscure in comparison with Andron of Ephesus. --Epìdosis 20:46, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
