What property (or qualifier) should we use if a silent film has intertitles in some language? --Infovarius (talk) 21:25, 8 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

novalue

edit

Why having this entity if "novalue" would be just suitable for this? (IMHO) Barcex (talk) 18:19, 15 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's hard to add statements to that.

Hard? You can just click the small button, left of input box that looks like 3 small boxes, and select "no value" option. How is this hard? Can you please tell me @Jura1:? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 08:24, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
May be Jura means QuickStatements, PetScan and other tools. Did you try to add "novalue" using them, Liuxinyu970226? --Infovarius (talk) 13:49, 30 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Adding "novalue" with QuickStatements and PetScan is not possible, but I don't think this justifies permanent hacks to the data model. As a temporary hack I could accept it, then we can set up a bot which regularly converts Q21686005 to novalue. --Pasleim (talk) 18:30, 30 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
This is for silent films only. One could obviously debate their exact language characteristics, but I don't think "no value" matches it. We have specific items for sign languages as well. Besides, there isn't really any value added by converting this. Isn't there? --

@Jura1: "We have specific items for sign languages as well." because they have Wikipedia articles, e.g. Auslan (Q29525) and how do you believe this can have? Anyway, why do you created N/A (Q36610580)? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 12:04, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Suggest to merge to language without a specific language code (Q22283016)

edit

please? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 03:37, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Why? "mis" is for known languages that don't have WMF codes yet (generally with an open thread in phabricator that isn't being processed correctly).
--- Jura 04:22, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
So do you have a specific BCP47 language tag for this specific concept? In any case, the original language of film or TV show (P364) will be deleted in the near future, so if you think keeping is better than merging, then this is a specific languoid, and you need at least one code to identify it. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 03:48, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
What do you suggest? We still seems to be stuck with the absence of a valid plan. Merging it with Q5 wouldn't do it either.
--- Jura 05:39, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Jura1: And why you created N/A (Q36610580), how is it too can't be replaced by no value, as Pasleim suggested below? Remember that P364 is TO BE DELETED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 10:08, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Shouldn't it be turned into the special value novalue? --Pasleim (talk) 17:56, 14 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
+1, as the Jura1's "we" is still unclear by scope. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 01:05, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
