What this box does for {{cite journal}} can be done for other {{cite}} family templates. Stylistic variants of {{cite journal}} can be appended to the box, and associated properties house in an adjacent collapsible box. So it can be expanded vertically to include a number of further sections.

It is proposed that main subject (P921) should have a change of status in navbox Journal article properties from "optional" to "basic".

It has been suggested that the actual content of navboxes such as the one above should be modified by a lightweight process, on a dedicated wiki page (presumably). The point of this template is just to ensure an orderly discussion.
