Samenvoegen items edit

Mbch331 (talk) 21:54, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Goede reden, helemaal begrijpelijk. Ciell (talk) 21:55, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Noemt mijn systeem het "hernoemen" in de gadget? Ciell (talk) 22:04, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nee, hernoemen is iets anders. In het Nederlands heet het "samenvoegen". (Werkt alleen voor items.) Mbch331 (talk) 22:07, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oké, gevonden. Zal het binnenkort eens uitproberen. Bedankt! Ciell (talk) 22:09, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Universal Code of Conduct consultation edit

Hello, I am writing to you to personally invite you to the ongoing consultation about the new Wikimedia movement's Universal Code of Conduct. Your feedback as an experienced user is of great value for us, and we are extremely interested in hearing your say.

You might express your opinion at any given time and in any way you may consider useful (for example, publicly at the consultation page or on my talk page, or privately via email). If you wish or feel more comfortable, we can also set up an online meeting in order to discuss your opinions and ideas.

Please remember that there is no such thing as a “stupid opinion” or “worthless idea”, so be bold and feel free to express yourself. :) Also, if you wish you can help us involving other users you know and that you think might be interested in having their say in this!

Hope to hear from you soon! --Sannita (WMF) (talk) 17:16, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors edit

Dear Ciell,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized (?) to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at kholoudsaa@gmail.com or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me using the email mentioned above if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Kholoud

Q418274 edit

Not sure that moving two sitelinks is a good option. Usually articles about chemical substances are linked to the 'active ingredient' item, even if there is only one pharmaceutical product that has this active ingredient in its composition. In this case Copaxone is just one brand name among others, so I'm a bit surprised by your edits. Wostr (talk) 00:46, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wostr, thank you for reaching out. I reverted my actions - I agree with what you are saying, and this was actually why I disconnected these two Wikipedia articles from the item on the chemical element in the first place.
At the moment there are at least two brands of medication that use this chemical element, Copaxone and Mylan. They are not completely the same, they have a different interval for injections. The Dutch article (my home-wiki) on 'glatirameer' however only mentions the Copaxone brandname, and in our articles the chemical element and the brand seem to get confused, or at least I need more time to look into this better and see how to model this.
Thank you very much for this needed maintenance! Keeping information on medication and treatments up to date is a niche which sometimes does not get as much attention as it deserves, so I would like to say I really appreciate your effort. Ciell (talk) 08:31, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Linking between Wikipedia articles and chemical- and pharmaceutical-related items is problematic. It's almost never possible to link Wikidata items to its equivalents on Wikipedia, because Wikidata is much more detailed when it comes to describing reality. What in Wikipedia is described usually in one article, in Wikidata it is described in at least dozens of items – every stereoisomers separately, group of stereoisomers = compounds without fully defined stereochemistry separately, each pharmaceutical form (hydrochloride, slfate, etc.) separately, each brand separately. I wish I could say that all these items are properly connected, but usually they are not, and despite the existence of dedicated properties for linking between such items, it takes a lot of, usually manual. Feminisme edit

In most cases, the proper length is between two and twelve words. One-word descriptions are almost always too ambiguous, and should be avoided. If the description goes onto a second line it is probably too long, and if it goes onto a third line, it is almost definitely too long. Ldhank (talk) 05:53, 8 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sexual/reproductive health/rights edit

Hey! In spite of my promise to never touch these again, I had to fix them for the Finno-Ugric languages since we are having a weekly competition (for Finnish, Northern Saami, Inari Saami, and Livvonian Karelian) on sexuality in a couple of weeks. My changes are likely to get reverted again though. Would you be interested in helping out to improve these items? I've been thinking of how to get it through to people that don't see the difference between the different concepts. For example the new abortion law in Texas and forced sterilizaion, are they violations of reproductive rights or sexual rights or both? Sexual autonomy is a sexual right, reproductive autonomy a reproductive right, etc. This is really difficult to get across to people who come from cultures and legal systems where they are one and the same though. I think that fixing the conflated mess on the en- and jpwikis is going to take an actual event to happen, perhaps by working with WHO and other international organizations, but it definitely needs to be done imo. -Yupik (talk) 19:26, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would absolutely love to work together on this.
I am have less time the upcoming week, but let's get in touch! Are you thinking along the lines of the Wikiproject Sexuality, so we could map everything clearly and direct people to the different reasoning for the set up we'd choose? Ciell (talk) 19:34, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
This week is out of the picture for me too since it's Sámi Languages Week (Q109213367) :) I think it would be crucial for us to work together with a project to do this, especially if we're planning on taking on enwiki. -Yupik (talk) 12:17, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Should I see if I can draft something on the weekend? Maybe I could take this on as a project for WikidataCon 2021 (Q73768833). Ciell (talk) 17:40, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's a great idea! -Yupik (talk) 00:44, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Yupik: I think I mapped the essential items tonight, am I correct the confusion actually comes down to these seven items in the bullet list? User:Ciell/Sexual_&_reproductive_health#Wikidata:WikiProject_Sexual_&_reproductive_health/Properties Ciell (talk) 20:38, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for mapping those out! I added in three more concepts and tried finding the last one that I thought had been created before, i.e. "sexual health and rights". If I can't find it by Tuesday, I'll recreate it. -Yupik (talk) 03:33, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
