Best regards!

Hey, sorry about this, but I've had to delete your item on your userpage. A consensus in an RfC held that user pages shouldn't be considered notable. You're welcome, of course, to link your userpages the "old-fashioned" way (the bots won't stop you, either), and I believe there's some plan in the works for a sort of "global userpage", which was part of why we banned items on userpages. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 22:47, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Merging items edit

Hallo Gamliel Fishkin,

If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.

Wikimedia language codes edit

Hi there.

hrx is the valid Wikimedia language code (P424) for Hunsrik (Q304049). If you look at the property item, you will see that source website for the property (P1896) is https://doc.wikimedia.org/mediawiki-core/master/php/Names_8php_source.html which has the line:

'hrx' => 'Hunsrik', # Riograndenser Hunsrückisch

Additionally, Wikimedia language code (Q21468732) has described at URL (P973) https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/g/mediawiki/core/+/master/languages/data/Names.php (and other mirrors of this file) where it's also present. hrx is also listed as a valid language in the API docs: https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=help&modules=wbgetentities (scroll down to "languages").

Even though Wikimedia language code (P424) creates a link to a version of Wikipedia using the code, it does not have to be valid. You can see this in some other languages (e.g: Awadhi (Q29579)), and also in the special language codes (the ones for undetermined language (Q22282914), etc). It looks like there has been some discussion of removing the link for this reason: Property talk:P424#target_link

I hope this helps explain things. --NoInkling (talk) 22:10, 25 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
