county council of the Republic of Ireland edit

instanceOf local authority - I replaced it with more specific "county council of the Republic of Ireland (Q55078692)", e.g. [1] 2.245.10.35 19:59, 17 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! --jacksonj04 (talk) 08:42, 18 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

council of ... Council edit

These labels seem malformed. You may wish to adjust these to either "council ..." or "... Council" (most likely the latter). Mahir256 (talk) 16:00, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Mahir256: Thanks for the message! In this case I believe the labels are correct; the entities explicitly refer to the legislative body (the "council") which forms a part of a wider local authority (the "Council"). I'm more than happy to have a discussion on if you think there's a better way to do this though! --jacksonj04 (talk) 16:05, 7 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Some help with every politician edit

Hi Jacksonj, can you giveme a little help with the sparql query to find the deputies of Bolivia? I´m trying to put some order in the data of my country, hugs and thanks.--Caleidoscopic (talk) 03:53, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jacksonj04,
First of all, congratulations for your work !
On the page Wikidata:WikiProject every politician/Belgium/data/Chamber/Current Members you have created, the list is great but when we click on WDQS for example, there is an issue. In the wikicode of the article the pipe for FILTER(!BOUND(?end) || ?end > NOW()) seems interpreted as part of the {{Wikidata list}}. Could you have a look ? Thank you, Jona (talk) 22:03, 8 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Jona: I'm afraid that you're right, the pipe is being interpreted as part of the template – it's caught me out a couple of times as well! As far as I know there isn't a workaround here, as the usual {{!}} to get a pipe in templates isn't interpreted by Listeria correctly, and breaks the query which means the table won't be regenerated automatically. You can always find the full query in the Wikicode, I'm sorry I can't be more help! --jacksonj04 (talk) 10:38, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
At least, now I know ! ;-)
Where do you think it should be reported ? In the listeria issue tracker ? Could you give me another example for the report ? Thank you, Jona (talk) 16:20, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
By chance, I took a look at Wikidata:WikiProject_every_politician/Argentina/data/Senate/current, and there, they use BIND(COALESCE(?end, "3001-01-01T00:00:00Z"^^xsd:dateTime) as ?enddate) FILTER (?enddate > NOW()). Is it a good solution ? Thank you. Jona (talk) 20:46, 12 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

English councils edit

Hi Nick. I noticed your edits linking English council area items to council items & thought to give you a heads up on work I've just done on this dataset.

I've not met your high standardm but I've just run through the English councils, creating items and/or linking items to their areas using applies to jurisdiction (P1001), with reciprocal links (where they didn't already exist) using legislative body (P194). I might yet add executive body (P208) and authority (P797) for areas without these, pointing back to the council item. Clearly in the fullness it would be ideal to get these to follow the form you've esablished in e.g. Birmingham (Q20986424), with council of Councils & executives of Councils, etc.

I've also fixed any P31 issues which precluded a simple report on extant English councils, and updated official website (P856) values to their contemporary https versions - this prompted by MHCLG taking an interest in wikidata [2].

Report here - extant English councils & combined authorities, pointing to their areas: w.wiki/BFB.

I'll be working on getting a reciprocal report of extant areas pointing to their councils next; I imagine there are now dissolved areas which will need end-dating. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:55, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

Hello. You are the creator of Wikidata:WikiProject every politician/France/Completeness. I try to do the same with Cyprus but is not working Wikidata:WikiProject every politician/Cyprus/Completeness. Do you know why? Xaris333 (talk) 10:43, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
