Hi Jkadavoor. Please search Wikidata before creating a new item. I had to merge all of your last additions. --Succu (talk) 07:56, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Succu, I'm clicking only on the "edit links" under "languages" in the left panel of a Wikipedia articles. I've no idea why it is not showing the existing one if ever one really exists. Jee 08:44, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I do not know what you did here: but you have created a mess bigger than I can solve. There are no signs that the two taxons are interchangable, but you have merged them together, and in order to do so, you have deleted the links to several languages. Why? Edoderoo, its a single species (original description as Lycaena helicon Felder, 1860). There is indeed such mistakes in legacy databases; but we need not repeat it. Otherwise, if we create two wikidata items, more language Wikipedias will create duplicate articles. Now there seems only two (nl and sv) that can be merged. I don't know those languages; otherwise I would have made a merge request there too. Jee 01:59, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Super, then I will make sure they get merged on nl-wiki too. Thanks for the explanation! Edoderoo (talk) 15:39, 23 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please be adviced that the Dutch user community was not completely happy with merging those two items, and as *every* article needs a wikidata-entry in one way or another, some part of your merge have been reverted. I am not a biologist, but for me it seems like a religion, you either believe this database is the good one, or you believe the other one (and in the end all are wrong). In the end we need to find a solution that suits all, and having an item for every article is a good start, even if some of these items do not exist in every single language in the end. Edoderoo: No worries. See Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Taxonomy#Talk:Q5149164. Brya suggested that adding taxon synonym is preferred over merging. I don't know whether it is better; but will not merge any further synonyms until there is a strong consensus for it. Let us see how other members respond to it. Jee 08:10, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm glad to see that we all somehow look for a solution, which is a good start. Edoderoo (talk) 08:37, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
