I have editted the Properties page. Can you look at what I have done and see if it matches up with what you need? Have I got the property names right?

See my comments Filceolaire (talk) 11:23, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I have editted the property proposal page

  • I have added headers giving the proposed names for the properties
  • I have combined Revenue (state) and Revenue (company)
  • I have combined Expenses and Expenditure
  • I have added the qualifiers
  • I have deleted 'Company Headquarters location' and 'ticker symbol' because these already exist
  • I added the discussion section
  • I have voted to   Support except for the properties which can be calculated. I think it might be better to calculate these rather than storing them. I'll see what others think.

You should vote too Filceolaire (talk) 21:11, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

McN: You have renamed some of the Properties from the names I proposed to things like "GDP by Economic Sector (detailed)". I'm not sure if you realised that these headings are the names we are proposing for the properties. Are you actually proposing a property called "GDP by economic sector (detailed)" or are you proposing a property called "GDP" and a qualifier property "Economic Sector". If it's the latter then you need two proposals - one called GDP and the other called "Economic sector". I have looked at the UN page and I have no idea what you mean by '(detailed)'.

Remember that here we are proposing properties to describe the underlying data - we are not specifying what you will do with that data in your tables and visualisations. You need to be clear about this distinction. I would like to help but I'm not clear what you are trying to do here. Filceolaire (talk) 14:17, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

I think I proper changes that you are talking about. I renamed them 'Economic Sector' Mcnabber091 (talk) 19:55, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Just letting you know that i autopatrolled you. Also you might want to add babel to you userpage to view and edit more than one language: Just add e.g. {{#babel:de-N|en-3|es-1|fr-2|nl-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. With the same language codes you can also link to your Wikipedia page e.g. de:User:Mcnabber091 --Tobias1984 (talk) 05:41, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Mcnabber091 (talk) 19:56, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Property proposalsEdit

Hi Mcnabber! I just want to send you an example from the Wikidata sandbox I made. This would be a good way of saving different pieces of information by using qualifiers for time and what part is concerned. We don't have numbers yet so I used string for display purposes: --Tobias1984 (talk) 19:18, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, this is the right diff: --Tobias1984 (talk) 19:20, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for showing me this. I am new to Wikidata so I will need to learn more about how this works, but thank you. Mcnabber091 (talk) 19:25, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Hallo nochmal!
Umsatz = 2 Millionen Euro
gilt für = agriculture (Q11451)
Einige deiner Attribute wirken so als ob sie auf Instanzen verweisen sollten. Probier das nochmal in der Sandkiste aus und schreib mir falls es noch Probleme gibt. --Tobias1984 (talk) 06:53, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

Unsolicited messagesEdit

This was not really helpful. Well, scratch that. I understand that you were trying to do the right thing and help get some properties created, but cold-calling 25 people is over-the-top. I won't say it's "canvassing", since you didn't ask anyone to vote a specific way... But it's essentially a slippery slope issue: If you invite 25 people to comment on something, what's to stop someone from inviting 100, or 500, or 5,000? Anyways, I can go into more detail if you'd like—I'm writing quickly before people start asking why I just did this—but the long and the short of it is that I've reverted all of your invitations. Please do tell me if you have any more questions about this. Although I'm on my alt account right now, you can consider this an administrative action. — PublicAmpers&(main accounttalkblock) 20:10, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

I do not mind. I do not however edit content other than medicine. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) (if I write on your page reply on mine) 20:35, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
sorry about that. I only sent the mesage to Wikipedians who had previously commented on the property page. Mcnabber091 (talk) 22:25, 26 August 2013
I have no objections to be asked to look at something. I am more than capable of deciding for myself, if I want to comment/support/oppose. There is no policy or guidelines regarding this on Wikidata, this isn't wikipedia. Danrok (talk) 15:14, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

GDP/Employment by sectorEdit

A claim is a property and a value or a property and an item that gives you information about the subject of the item/page. i.e.

  • USA (Item for this page)
    • Employment : 1,234,567 (property + value)

A qualifier is a property which gives you additional information about the claim.

  • USA (Item)
    • Employment : 1,234,567 (property + value)
      • Economic sector : Agriculture (qualifier property + item)

This states that the employment figure of "1,234,567" applies to the 'Agriculture' 'economic sector.
The 'economic sector' property when used as a qualifier can link to any item so it can link to any of the 13 sectors defined in the 2 different sources or to an item for the 'total'.

In addition to the qualifier the claim can also have a source.

  • USA (Item)
    • Employment : 1,234,567 (property + value)
      • Economic sector : Agriculture (qualifier property + item)
        • stated in : 'UN statistical digest 2013' (source property + item)
          • page : "238" (additional source property plus value)
          • title : "USA employment statistics" (additional source property + value)

Talk sometime?Edit

Sure. I tried to find you on Skype but there are three accounts with that name. My Skype name is the same as my user name here and as far as I can tell I'm the only one with that name.

I'll leave Skype on in case you call. --Filceolaire (talk) 22:27, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Economics property proposalsEdit

Hello, I have moved proposals about economic data at Wikidata:Property proposal/Economics (I had forgotten to add the link), and the proposal about exports in % of GDP was already there. I do not think it is a good idea to use percentage of GDP as a unit, or at least we should also have a exports or imports in value. As far as I know all datasets giving exports in GDP % are just exports in value, divided by GDP, as given by an external source. Little to no additional work is done. Detailed statistics from the WTO are usually in value. --Zolo (talk) 05:37, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

atomic number (P1086)Edit

Just created atomic number (P1086). --Tobias1984 (talk) 07:11, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Inflation rate (P1279) createdEdit

I'm just here to notify you of the creation of inflation rate (P1279). Regards, Vogone (talk) 19:46, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Central government investment funds propertyEdit

Hi, I have reshaped your proposal. I hope it is in line with your idea. I think that current version is more likely to be approved. --Jklamo (talk) 10:35, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Thank your @Jklamo:. I like your definition more than the one I suggested. It would be a big help if you could add your opinion to the other economic property proposals I proposed. Mcnabber091 (talk) 14:57, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Here is a link to the list of economic data properties I think should be on Wikidata. My goal is to have all of these properties created: Wikidata:WikiProject_Economics @Jklamo:

Economics property proposal: please change the examplesEdit

Could you please update your proposals on Wikidata:Property proposal/Economics to use real examples? Part of the property creation process is to add those examples to the newly created properties, and I don't want to create properties without them. Also, I think most of your proposals would require a mandatory "date" qualifier, since I these figures tend to vary over time. --Srittau (talk) 18:37, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Unused propertiesEdit

This is a kind reminder that the following properties were created more than six months ago: foreign direct investment net outflow (P2140), foreign direct investment net inflow (P2141), household wealth (P2220), total exports (P2135), total imports (P2136), real GDP growth rate (P2219), cash (P2232), balance of trade (P2294), money supply (P2296), employment by economic sector (P2297), total liabilities (P2138), central government debt as a percent of GDP (P1689), individual tax rate (P2834). As of today, these properties are used on less than five items. As the proposer of these properties you probably want to change the unfortunate situation by adding a few statements to items. --Pasleim (talk) 19:21, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
