ويكيميديا حاضنة ليس عميلًا لويكي بيانات بعد. الحاضنة مختلفة عن جميع المشاريع الأخرى لمؤسسة ويكيميديا من ناحيتين: 1.) خلافًا لمعظم المشاريع، فهي تستضيف محتوى متعدد اللغات في ويكي مركزي ولكن يتم فصل هذا المحتوى في دليل الموقع و2.) أنها لا تسعى لإنشاء مشروع قائم بذاته من تلقاء نفسها ولكن ببساطة تبدأ العمل في إصدارات المشاريع الأخرى (على سبيل المثال: ويكيبيديا بلغات جديدة) وبمجرد أن يُعتبَر المشروع ناضجًا بما فيه الكفاية، يتم إغلاقه في الحاضنة وتصديره إلى النطاق الخاص به، كان هناك نقاش لاستضافة مشاريع الويكي التي من المرجح أن تبقى صغيرة ولكن ليست هناك سياسة موحدة في هذا حتى الآن.

unlike most projects, it hosts multilingual content in a central wiki but that content is separated by folders in the directory of the site and
it does not seek to create a free-standing project of its own but simply to start work on editions of other projects (e.g. Wikipedias in new languages)—once a project is deemed sufficiently mature, it is closed on Incubator and exported to its own domain. There has been discussion of hosting wikis which are likely to remain small but there is no unified policy on this yet.
