Motivation edit

Many events within the scope of Wikidata:WikiProject Humanitarian Wikidata trigger crisis mapping (Q13476292) efforts, including through Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (Q27237385), who operate the HOT Tasking Manager (Q100511474) that catalogues cases of coordinated mapping activity. I think linking relevant Wikidata items to those Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Tasking Manager projects through a dedicated Wikidata property for their IDs would be useful. Some issues to consider:

  1. the mapping is often not 1:1, as there may be several mapping projects for the same or overlapping events or areas (example: buildings and roads in San Andres (Q174667))
  2. some of the mapping efforts are targeted at unmapped areas (example), which correlate strongly with areas that are not well-represented in Wikidata
