Motivation edit

We have entities for some fraction of the IANA time zones (Q17272692), and I plan to add the rest. Currently (if only by convention), the English name of each entity matches the IANA zone name, but the IANA zone names are true identifiers, so I think it makes sense to correlate them more definitively on that basis. (Correlating via entity name is imperfect, as they're subject to edit. Indeed at least one of our existing IANA time zones has a slightly wrong name: America/Argentina/La_Rioja (Q4742629) corresponds to the official IANA zone identifier America/Argentina/La_Rioja.) Discussion edit

@Ederporto: The IANA tz database (Q187176) at https://www.iana.org/time-zones consists of 388 time zones with identifiers like America/New_York. So our Q28146035 would have this new ID America/New_York; our Q16894228 would have ID Europe/London; our Q4823536 would be Australia/Sydney; etc. Scs (talk) 04:07, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
