- Support David (talk) 13:46, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Question @Pigsonthewing: It looks like there are a whole lot of these, all with a similar URL structure. Perhaps we should use the entire string "subjectcode/01001000", which would allow any of the lists of codes to be imported into the same property. --99of9 (talk) 06:05, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: any thoughts about the comment above? − Pintoch (talk) 10:47, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- [Only just seen this, sorry] Either would work; we need input from more people; and arguments pro and con. User:Thadguidry has done some work on mapping IPTC codes. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:03, 16 June 2018 (UTC)

- Support @Pigsonthewing: Yes, They have several "Descriptive NewsCodes" https://iptc.org/standards/newscodes/groups/#descrncd and the Formatter URL hint can just be to prefix with the /<DescriptiveGroup>/$1 /productgenre/entertainment /mediatopic/20000002 both would map to our Q173799. /worldregion/r001 maps to our Q16502. And I would probably rename the property proposed to be "IPTC Newscode" since that is the actual name of the controlled vocabulary that offers many "sets" of Newscodes that we are trying to map Thadguidry (talk) 16:28, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose in the current form, but Support as "IPTC NewsCode" with values such as
subjectcode/01001000
-- JakobVoss (talk) 20:59, 17 June 2018 (UTC)- @JakobVoss: Could you say why that is your preference? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:21, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I agree with JakobVoss here - we won't want to be adding 100+ identifiers like this, but with this adjustment to the proposal we can capture them all. ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:59, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support OK, I've switched the proposal to the more general set, as discussed above. --99of9 (talk) 02:43, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
- Question:Will a single property allow us to usefully store and use formatter URLs for RDf, SPARQ end points, or suchlike? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:09, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
@ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, ArthurPSmith, Thadguidry, JakobVoss, Pintoch, Pigsonthewing: @99of9: Done: IPTC NewsCode (P5429). − Pintoch (talk) 09:37, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- Question Hi all, on behalf of IPTC, thanks very much for doing this work! We have RDF/XML versions of each NewsCode available at http://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/mediatopic/01000000?lang=en-GB&format=rdfxml, Turtle at http://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/mediatopic/01000000?lang=en-GB&format=rdfttl and JSON-LD at http://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/mediatopic/01000000?lang=en-GB&format=json. Can we include these in the RDF formatter for the property? If so, which one should we use (I guess RDF/XML?) and how do we account for languages? We have a "lang=x-all" option so should we use that?
