Motivation

edit

Apparently in last April, the Latindex Portal (https://latindex.org/latindex/) changed its whole indexing system. Not only the url scheme, but also the identifiers themselves, without any redirection. Moreover, the new identifiers remain simple integers, so the old regexp remains valid and we have no way to distinguish between old and new identifiers.

In Wikidata, Latindex ID (P3127) has been updated for the url scheme formatter URL (P1630), but no update made for the identifiers. So, Wikidata now provides false links. For example, Nuevo Mundo, Mundos Nuevos (Q3346085) links to https://www.latindex.org/latindex/ficha/15703 instead of https://www.latindex.org/latindex/ficha/11055. The big deal is the confusion between old and new identifiers (numbers) if we update the current property, so I think the only solution is to create a new one, then slightly fix and deprecate Latindex ID (P3127).

FYI, a colleague of mine fixed the Mir@bel database (https://reseau-mirabel.info/) using the Latindex API. I plan to do the same if we create the new property.

  1. Retrieve the JSON data from the export of advanced research with no criteria (~15 MB) : https://www.latindex.org/latindex/exportar/busquedaAvanzada/json/%7B%22idMod%22:%220%22%7D.
  2. For each json block, retrieve the numeric identifier and ISSNs (ISSN-E and ISSN-P) as the external key. GAllegre (talk) 17:46, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
