Motivation edit
It would be positive to have this property to manage UGC IDs efficiently, provide the corresponding external links and ensure data quality by using constraints that would let us find duplicates and mistakes easily. abián 22:05, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Comment Are there plans to replace the existing UGC catalog code (P528) entries (e.g., in Black Eye Galaxy (Q13983)) with the new property? Jneubert (talk) 14:04, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Whatever we decide. :-) Since there are other identifiers for galaxies that will be using catalog code (P528) yet, I think those values don't bother us for now as catalog code (P528) statements, we could simply copy them without the "UGC " part; that's what I did with Principal Galaxies Catalogue ID (P4095). --abián 19:17, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
