Motivation edit
Who's on First already includes wikidata
in the concordances
. Adding this property would add a reverse reference from Wikidata to Who's on First. The entire Who's on First database can be downloaded so a bot could be created to import all of the external ids into Wikidata. U+1F360 (talk) 03:00, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Discussion edit

- Oppose for now. At first sight this is a very useful resource. But, for example, they link their 101750467 to Birmingham (Q2256); and not their 85684283. This is the opposite of what one would expect (compare the two shape files), and could cause problems for us in future. [As an side, I'm a Birmingham resident born and bred, and do not recognise the former boundary in any context.] Some analysis of the frequency of such issues, and how to resolve them, is needed before we decide whether to make his property. - @Pigsonthewing: I didn't mean to imply that Who's on First is a source of truth. I think it's totally acceptable if we decide that the id should be different, or if we have multiple ids (as in, one Wikidata item relates to multiple WOFIDs) --U+1F360 (talk) 13:50, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: To be fair, 101750467 is a
locality
where 85684283 is aregion
. Regardless of the map (which I agree is wrong), Birmingham (Q2256) says that it is a city, so the proper link (in my opinion) would be 101750467. Would you like to expand your critic, or would you be okay if the property was created? --Kristbaum (talk) 10:49, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- My objection stands, and does not require expansion. I also note that neither of the two (only) subsequent "support" votes addresses the issues I raised. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:34, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: If I understand your objection correctly, it is that Who's on First is not high enough quality source in order to link to? The data is open for anyone to edit (albeit with a GitHub account). U+1F360 (talk) 13:32, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

- I would like to see in the property description a bit of information about what kind of website whosonfirst happens to be. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 13:25, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl: I added a link to https://www.whosonfirst.org in the description. The dataset used to be a part of Mapzen, but this dataset has been spun off into it's own project which is part of the Linux Foudnation. - @U+1F360: The description field doesn't allow for wikitext or other formatting. I just want a one sentence description of the kind of data that it contains. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 11:21, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
