Motivation
editexplain xkcd (explain xkcd (Q109566908)) is a wiki that provides explanations of jokes in xkcd (Q13915) strips; this is an important job, since xkcd can be a bit obscure and/or complex at times. This property could be used to easily link to a strip's wiki page, both on and off Wikidata. It also has information about characters, people, books, etc. that are in or related to it. — gabldotink [ talk | contribs ] 02:53, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

edit- Weak support--Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 23:55, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Comment For stability, consider using page IDs rather than the URL. For instance, 23373 insead of Cory_Doctorow. The page ID can be found in the page information. --Yirba (talk) 18:41, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- We usually qualify the page title with MediaWiki page ID (P9675). Laftp0 (talk) 03:32, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- The proposal has been updated to mention MediaWiki page ID (P9675) as a qualifier. — gabldotink [ talk | contribs ] 03:33, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

- Comment if you change this to use pageid, you can have my support too. Infrastruktur (talk) 12:55, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- but we have MediaWiki page ID (P9675)? Laftp0 (talk) 14:37, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- True, but it's used as a generic qualifier, and not suitable for generating links. PageIDs also stay the same even if the page should change name. Infrastruktur (talk) 22:29, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

- What do you prefer @gabldotink:? Are you ok with pageID or would you rather use the page title in the original proposal? Infrastruktur (talk) 09:26, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Apologies; I've been meaning to reply to this discussion for a while.
- MediaWiki page ID (P9675), according to its property examples, exists to be an unchanging identifier, as @Infrastruktur: points out. However, this also means that it already fulfills the role that Infrastruktur is describing, as Laftp0 mentions. It is designed for use as a qualifier for a page title, and as such, we don't need to duplicate its usage with this property.
- As MediaWiki page ID (P9675) also shows, MediaWiki identifiers are traditionally the page "title," not the numerical ID (e.g. Fandom article ID (P6262), P7829 (P7829), WikiTrek article ID (P8344), etc.). As such, I vote to have this property's value as what is displayed in the URL.
