Comment good idea. For wikidata, that would be Thierry Caro editing? ;) BTW, maybe better samples could be found instead of #1 and #2 (currently Example 1 car (Q1420) → auto maintenance (Q3055308), footwear (Q161928) → Repair of footwear and leather goods (Q29586102)). Supposedly these are "maintenance operations" (as mentioned in description), but not necessarily "maintenance methods" (proposed label). --- Jura 06:14, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow I think the actual methods would be more interesting. Obviously the item link as value could have more detailed statements, but if we just can up with a plenty of items that simply have "maintenance" appended to the subject label, this wouldn't add much value. --- Jura 14:07, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If there is just an item describing all methods, we could use the custom "somevalue" and the qualifier statement is subject of (P805) to link the item (e.g. "auto maintenance"). --- Jura 14:15, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I wonder if the inverse might make more sense (and have a wider application than just maintenance). E.g.:
auto maintenance (Q3055308) → <some property> → motor car (Q1420)

Repair of footwear and leather goods (Q29586102) → <some property> → footwear (Q161928)

En fait, ma proposition confondait opération et méthode au départ parce que je ne voyais pas trop la différence et c'est toujours un peu le cas. Pour moi les exemples se valent à peu près.         D'accord. Donc si je comprends tu veux qu'on liste toute une série d'éléments très précis du style remplacement de la culasse, etc. ? Bon, a priori je ne suis pas contre cette précision mais alors la déclaration ira sur l'élément de la culasse.         Peut-être il y a un moyen de les résumer, mais je ne vois pas l'utilité d'une déclaration qui dit principalement que la "maintenance operation" pour "car" est "car maintenance", bien que cet élément puisse aussi être lié. --- Jura 07:57, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

- In my opinion, what you suggest is not what we want. I understand that car → car maintenance may seem useless and car → check filter more practical but in my opinion, that's not a good way to proceed. We should have car → car maintenance on one item, filter → check filter on another and car maintenance has part(s) (P527) check filter on a third one. This is what we usually do and this is why car → check filter looks like a bad idea eventually. OK.
