English: This proposed property should be used to show who nominated a person for a certain (public) office. This applies to such cases where people are appointed to a public office where they need to be nominated for first (either by a single person like a head of state or a plurality of persons, like a government or a parliament). Mostly this means that there has to be a third person (or plurality of persons) confirming this nomination and appointing the nominee to the office. Two examples just to make this clearer:
John Roberts (Q11153), Chief justice of the Supreme Court of the US, was nominated as chief justice by the President of the United States, George W. Bush (Q207). (positive example, nominated by the president, nomination confirmed by the senate)
Theresa May (Q264766), the prime minister of the UK, has been appointed as prime minister by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (Q9682). (negative example, not nominated but appointed (appointed by (P748)))
I hope this helps to make things clearer. Plani (talk) 14:35, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
