Iraq War (Q26776193): 2003–2011 war after an American-led invasion: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

Item for redirect on Arabic Wikipedia. There is another 2999 Redirects connected with Wikidata in Arabic Wikipedia, should we delete it by a bot? All of them are a duplicate for an existing items. FShbib (talk) 12:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

@FShbib: I think removing the link and then merging is the optimal solution. That is quite a job by hand... Lymantria (talk) 06:18, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

cell line (Q21014612): no description: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

Not a good practice to create a specific item for "Human cell line", instead to describe from which species a cell line originate I believe that P703 (Found in Taxon) should be added. This is what I did for the 78 cell lines (Q21014462) currently in Wikidata. I am creating subclasses of cell lines for what are really specific subclasses (example: hybridoma (Q27554370)). --Amb sib (talk) 18:38, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

  • @Sebotic: who created it.

    • @Amb sib, Jura1: The reason why I did not choose 'found in taxon homo sapiens' for cell lines is because it is imho semantically and biologically not precise. A cell line is usually not found in a human, it might be derived from human tumor cells or immortalized human primary cells, but I would not say that these are found in taxon homo sapiens. For the HeLa cell line, there is even discussion if it should be considered a separate species. That said, and in view that I'd like to integrate the cell line ontology at some point, I think I can live with that imprecision and also that these 2 resources should employ a common data model. Alternatively, we could propose a 'derived from' property, as it is used in Cellosaurus. Sebotic (talk) 19:02, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
    • @Jura1, Amb sib:Yes I am trying to see how I can prepare the entry of the Cellosaurus cell lines in wikidata, there are many issues including the found in taxon/derived from, the use of medical condition to indicate what disease a cell line is derived and the sex/gender. What I did up to now is convert the about 70 cell lines that existed in Wikidata to a "standardized"reliminary view, I added some new sublcass of cell lines so that all classes in the Cellosaurus are covered and entered one example of each subclass. There are now 78 examples of cell lines in wikidata. My next step is to write a document to discuss how to go foward in term of the entry, with a bot, of many other cell lines. But in the meanwhile I believe that "human cell line" should be deleted as otherwise we already need to create "mouse cell line", "rat cell line", etc., etc., which is not the way to go

  Not done
