I here apply to ask to edit Labels and Descriptions with Robot. These edits will to larger parts be automatic, compared with my first request above. The content of the desriptions will be based on Categories and Infoboxes on Wikipedia.
Since a Swedish translation of Help:Description isn't avalible yet, I maybe have to start with English in that part. I have initiated a discussion of such a translation on Wikidata:Project chat/sv, but hasn't got any response yet.
About the technical issues here, It looks like I can choose if I want to edit with or without botflag. I will then edit without flag for tasks that isn't approved yet? - -Lavallen (block) 21:14, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- If you control all your edits you can edit without setting a botflag. You should always make sure there is a consensus in the given language for your edits. --Sk!d (talk) 21:20, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The English guideline for Labels do not give much room for interpretations and looks well written. But the Enlish guideline for Descriptions have to be discussed in detail, before we try to use it for Swedish descriptions. -- Lavallen (block) 21:38, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Every language can create there own rules for labels/descriptions/aliases. --Sk!d (talk) 21:51, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- I've looked through the edits already done with the bot, but I don't understand the language so I can't really comment on them. If they are doing what you want them to, then I'd support giving the account the bot flag, so long as you keep an eye on what it does. If you can do it manually, then also go ahead. - Edits made by your bot looks good so far, so I support. --Stryn (talk) 14:47, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I have not made any edits (other than very simple tests) in labels and descriptions yet. The edits you see is from my first request above. And the botflag is already set by a Steward. I will now spend some time to rewrite parts of the code, to make it more efficient. It's mainly the collecting of data that hasn't been time-efficient this far. -- Lavallen (block) 19:34, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Is it possible to add descriptions for many languages on one edit? --Stryn (talk) 10:41, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- It will when I have learned more about "DotNetDataBot", (I have not understood all of the documentation yet.) I am still using the "action=wbsetdescription"-api, which only edit one language. -- Lavallen (block) 11:37, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Your bot's descriptions are good, but please edit a few labels too. It seems that your bot hasn't edited any labels yet.--Snaevar (talk) 13:18, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I am setting labels for a set of Swedish urban areas now. BTW, how would you prefer me to describe them in English, as "urban areas" or as "localities"? See: en:Urban areas in Sweden. (The Swedish word is "tätort".) -- Lavallen (block) 14:43, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I would say that "Urban areas" is the correct term.
