Task/s: Harvesting infoboxes and categories from Wikipedias (mostly en.wiki) to add claims to items.
Code: Pywikibot-core
Function details: I will be using the two pywikibot scripts available for Wikidata (claimit.py and harvest_template.py) to add claims from infobox parameters (using harvest) and categories (using claimit). I'm a member of WikiProject South Africa and I mostly intend to edit items related to South Africa. For the trial run, I am adding the postal code (P281) from Infobox South African town to items linked to articles in the category Populated places in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality (see contribs). --Underlying lk (talk) 00:41, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- @Underlying lk: are you aware of better sources we can use (e.g. official data by the South African government)? And 'code' means the code specifically used by you - if any, otherwise just type 'Pywikibot-core' ;-) --Ricordisamoa 17:08, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- The immediate source for all the post codes transcluded from Infobox South African town is the Metadata ZA post, which in turn is taken from a spreadsheet on the South African Post Office website. So the source should be imported from Wikimedia project (P143) -> South African Post Office (Q7565777) (and perhaps reference URL (P854) -> postcodes.xls), but harvest_template.py does not provide a way to add sources or qualifiers, at least not from what I see in the documentation.--Underlying lk (talk) 00:10, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
