As a Wikimedia Deutschland staff member, I prepare the Wikidata Weekly summary, currently as an English-only newsletter. In response to community feedback expressing interest in translation, I'd like to request the necessary permissions to enable me to mark these pages for translation. Appreciate your assistance! --Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 11:06, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

I would like to have the chance to collaborate with the internationalization of interesting Wikidata projects. Also, as an active wikimedian and community organizer, I would like to have the ability to create projects and tool pages ready for international collaboration. Thanks! --Señoritaleona (talk) 23:10, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose No experience with translation markup, usecase unclear --Ameisenigel (talk) 16:24, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- I have experience with translation itself (in other wikis), so I'm familiar with the markup and I have a general understanding of how the translation flow works. But the only way of gaining markup experience is by having the required permissions. I'm a reliable and long-term editor and organizer, and I consider myself very careful and cautious, and a person with good tech skills. Señoritaleona (talk) 21:55, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Señoritaleona, you raise a good point about gaining experience - without taking a position on this request at the moment, would you like translation admin rights on testwiki? That would allow you to demonstrate familiarity with translation markup --DannyS712 (talk) 00:40, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hey @DannyS712, that would be great, thank you! Señoritaleona (talk) 13:44, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

I'd like the translation administrator permission. My current project is to turn Wikidata:Lexicographical data/Documentation/Languages/he into a translatable page, and translate it into Hebrew. If I understand correctly, it will be the first documentation page for lexemes in a particular language (see the full list) that will be translatable, and hopefully not the last. However, I suspect that this page will have to go through a few more iterations before becoming stable, and I'd love not to chase other translation administrators every time I update it. That's not the only thing I do, or plan to do with translatable pages on Wikidata. I also maintain Wikidata:Glossary and some other translatable pages here occasionally, and translate templates. I'm experienced with translation administration on translatewiki, Meta, Wikifunctions, and MediaWiki.org, and I happen to be one of the developers of the Translate extension (see Special:Version), so I know the tech well. I'd like to help with marking pages for translation, because there're lots of pages at Special:PageTranslation that are ready to be marked for translation. I've some experience with translations and would use this right to mark my projects, for example WD:SourceMD, for translation, too. I really look forward to be helpful for Wikidata community this way. Thanks! --Wüstenspringmaus talk 18:39, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

- Auregann (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Hello there! I'd like to have the translation admin rights on Wikidata with my personal account user:Auregann. I've been preparing and marking pages for translation for several years with my WMDE account user:Lea Lacroix (WMDE), but since I'm now running several multilingual projects with my personal account, it would be more efficient to access the feature directly from this account instead of switching.
You can see some of my recent work here:
- m:Celtic Knot Conference 2024,
- d:Wikidata:Twelfth Birthday,
- d:Wikidata:Twelfth Birthday/Run an event/Funding,
- m:Gruppi locali di lingua italiana/SudItalia,
- d:Wikidata:WikiProject Performing arts/Use cases/Swiss/Lot 2023-1
Please note that some of those are living pages and are frequently edited, and/or the decision has been made to keep some parts untranslated. I'm happy to receive feedback and suggestion for improvements as I know there's always a way to make it better :)
I am of course willing to work on pages other than my own projects, and I will be very happy to take on requests to prepare and mark pages for translation, as well as training and advising other users on how to do it.
Speaking of training, I recently gave an introduction presentation at Wikimania 2024: you can find the slides and video accessible on Wikimedia Commons. I hope that this material can be useful to inform editors on how to prepare a page for translation.
Many thanks in advance for considering my request! Best --Auregann (talk) 06:19, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
