The Cambridge Wikidata Workshop will take place on Saturday 20 October 2018, at 16 Mill Lane, Cambridge, United Kingdom. It is a local event for the Wikidata:Sixth Birthday celebrations. (It is being held early to avoid a clash with Mozfest in London the following weekend.)

Makespace sign: look for the buzzer on the right-hand side of the double doors by it, to enter

The event will be held in Makespace, a Cambridge community workshop: see http://makespace.org/. Please note that the venue is not suitable for unaccompanied children. For accessibility details, please ask the organiser.

Makespace is in central Cambridge, near where Silver Street Bridge crosses the River Cam. It is within walking distance of the rail station, some 20 or 25 minutes coming past the Fitzwilliam Museum, turning left onto Mill Lane and right into a car park after 50 yards. It is convenient for the main bus station, or buses stopping at Parkside, walking down Downing Street. By car, park-and-ride is a good option – there are nearby car parks, but they may be busy on a Saturday.

Provisional programme edit

Speakers and workshop leaders in the two strands are to be announced. Please check back for updates. The workshops will be hands-on events and you should bring a laptop (other devices may be more troublesome for participation). If you don't have a Wikipedia account, it will be easier for you if you create one before the day.

The idea of the Workshop is to give an introduction to two of the many faces of Wikidata, which is a versatile and rapidly growing Wikimedia project: its applications in the humanities, and science.
