    • the data model we are using;
    • some technical issues with Wikidata;
    • some issues at CrossRef (or possibly other DOI registries), PubMed, PubMed Central, or the original publisher;
    • any of the APIs involved.

    We have only begun to explore this in more detail, so the subsections below are currently sorted by symptoms rather than causes, and we work on disentangling the two.

    Article title too longEdit

    • Apparently, labels can have a maximum of 250 characters. The titles of some scholarly articles are longer than that, which causes an error in Quick statements:
    ERROR (set_label) : Must be no more than 250 characters long

    Journal namesEdit

    • If there is no item for the journal, or no title (P1476) on it, then no published in (P1433) statement can be made on items about articles published in that journal. Many items about journals seem to still have the old P357 (P357) instead, or no item at all.


    • Sometimes, article metadata like journal or article titles or author names are inconsistently capitalized, e.g. in ALLCAPS or smallcaps
    • Some DOIs also contain capital letters, which may cause confusion


    Main subjectEdit

    • This is a very useful feature in principle, but it often links to false positives, e.g. things rather than topics.

    Fatal errorsEdit
