Historique

Le projet a été initié par Adriano Rutz et Pierre-Marie Allard de l' University of Geneva (Q503473): public research university located in Geneva, Switzerland puis rejoint par Jonathan Bisson.

L'objectif initial était de construire une base de données ouverte compilant les produits naturels, les structures chimiques, leurs organismes producteurs et une référence bibliographique associée documentant ces liens. Pour ce faire, nous avons compilé les données taxonomiques, chimiques et bibliographiques des ressources existantes et les avons standardisées.

WikiData avec ses WikiProjet Chimie, WikiProjet Taxonomie, WikiProjetmétadonnées des références est conforme à l'objectif de cette base de données d'être disponible pour tous et d'être relié à d'autres ressources.

Comme nous n'avons pas d'endpoint SPARQL pour cette instance de Wikidata, nous ne pouvons pas vérifier facilement si l'entité existe déjà, mais le robot prend en charge les requêtes SPARQL pour résoudre les entités et éviter de créer des doublons.

Il fonctionne bien, il est raisonnablement rapide malgré les limitations de vitesse de l'API.
