Could we also broaden this to use for architects who work predominantly or solely a particular style? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 11:08, 2 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dangerous mix / des choux et des carottes

edit

English: I think that there could be a risk in allowing objects of this property to be a structure or an architect. One day, if we request for all items for which style is Art nouveau, we will get a completely heterogeneous list, that we will have to intersect with other properties another property. I wonder if we should have here 2 distinct properties: has the style and practices the style

Should not cause a problem, the correct way to query and get the expected results would be to select items with GND = geographical feature and architectural style = Art nouveau.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danrok (talk • contribs) at 14:47, 19 May 2013 (UTC).Reply
Shuld be, unless P107 (P107) is deprecated and scheduled for deletion. /ℇsquilo 08:22, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Confusion with P31 (instance of)

edit

It’s not clear to me whether to use this property (P149) or P31 (instance of) for buildings. I see the phrase “xxx building is an example of yyy architecture” — which to me suggests that I should use 'instance of'.

Also, since most of the architectural styles are in the form “Name architecture”, it feels redundant to say “Architectural style: Neoclassical architecture” (for example).

Any advice would be helpful. —Hawke666 (talk)

instance of (P31) is (ab)used for a lot of claims. A building can have half a dozen of P31's based on use and structural type, let's not put more into it when this property is available. /ℇsquilo 08:26, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Merge with P:P135

edit

I would like to propose to merge this property with movement (P135). The only difference beteween the two properties is that architectural style (P149) is restricted to some classes of items but that does not seem very useful, and in practice, p135 is used for buildings as well anwyway (compare fr:Catégorie:Page utilisant des données de Wikidata/P149‎ and fr:Catégorie:Page utilisant des données de Wikidata/P135). --Zolo (talk) 09:09, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have added this property to Wikidata:Properties_for_deletion. --Zolo (talk) 11:26, 1 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
no consensus was reached on Wikidata:Properties for deletion so I closed the discussion. --Pasleim (talk) 10:03, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
