editIMHO this property could be useful for other sporting events (e.g. FIFA World Cup), and perhaps some other events. Creating a property only Olympic Games can use seems too limited to me. Besides, oath made by (P543) and torch lit by (P545) also have this problem. --Stevenliuyi (talk) 01:30, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- You're totally right, this property can and should be used with other events as well. For the other properties 543 and 545, however, they're very specific to Olympic Games, so I can't see any use apart from the Olympics there.--Kompakt (talk) 07:19, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- As far as I know, P543 and P545 can also be used by other sporting events such as Asian Games (Q483463). Yes, the amount of such events is small, but it's not specific to Olympic Games. Regards,--Stevenliuyi (talk) 12:46, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- Alright. Clearly there's no objections to use these properties with the Asian Games, or with other sport events where torches are lit or oaths are made. I'm still thinking about suitable labels and descriptions.--Kompakt (talk) 13:12, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've changed the English and German labels of 543 and 545 to extend the meaning and include other events. Thank you for your remark.--Kompakt (talk) 14:02, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Beside panem et circenses this property imho also can be used for museums, theaters etc. --P1433-2014 (talk) 03:43, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Qualifier of P1619
editIs it okay to use this as qualifier of date of official opening (P1619)? Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 13:58, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Buildings
editI use this property for the person who officially opened a new public building. But this is for events only? Can we broaden it to buildings and subclasses? Hannolans (talk) 08:54, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Brigdes
