Scope change edit

I propose to change the scope of this property from "Commons gallery" to "additional Commons galleries". We already have sitelinks from Commons, but the deletion request for it has been rejected, because several Commons galleries can exist about the same topic. --Ricordisamoa 16:11, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Attack vector edit

This property can't be a good idea. I've just created a librsvg gallery, and added it to Q286024. Nobody will ever check this, it's just an open door for pointy / spammy / evil cruft. Never underestimate spammers. –Be..anyone (talk) 12:08, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Aren't there anti spam/vandalism efforts on Commons, like there are on the Wikipedias? Bever (talk) 05:43, 23 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not in the gallery namespace, I was the sole (almost) "owner" of c:Wikimedia Foundation for six months. It's the least important namespace there. –Be..anyone (talk) 01:42, 17 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Additionally it can cause redundant links, e.g., the commons gallery for Freeciv is also listed in other sites. Redundancy is fine as long as it stays redundant, but something (a bot) should check this limitation. I'm tempted to fix Freeciv manually, iff P935 is only for additional galleries it cannot be used for the gallery. OTOH this would be another bot-job required globally for P935. –89.204.138.33 23:29, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Actually remove works without login, it throws an unclear error message for the first "save", but another "save" killed the redundant "other sites:commons gallery" link on Freeciv. –2.247.246.154 06:50, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Uniqueness? edit

Both an object and its commons category have the same gallery, so the value cannot be unique. What am I missing? --SCIdude (talk) 15:37, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Probably category should not correspond to unique gallery, so it shouldn't have this property. --Infovarius (talk) 08:53, 26 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the distinct values constraint. It seemed unreasonable e.g. for the case described above, Thing and Category:Thing would have the same gallery page. GKFX (talk) 17:39, 29 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
