Taxon = Taxon name

edit

taxon (Q16521) appears to be a way of declaring something is an instance of a "taxon", as a taxonomist would understand that term. However, it's actually a way of declaring that something is a "taxon name". This endlessly confuses editors who don't regularly work on taxon items; hence your request at Help talk:Merge#Merge request for Q4666317 and Q72725 was perfectly understandable.

If you are interested, I have an essay about this at en:User:Peter coxhead/Wikidata issues#Confusion between taxa and taxon names. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:29, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Peter coxhead, thank you for your message. I can actually see that the taxonomy isn't so easy to understand. I will read your recommendation page with interest. --Ellicrum (talk) 16:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wrong merge

edit

Hi Ellicrum, please don't merge a Wikimedia disambiguation page (Q4167410) with a defined item. I've tried to clean up the chaos you've created but it's to much. Please revert your edits for Q16878911 and Q97674394. A disambiguation page can't have native language (P103) etc. --Kolja21 (talk) 01:41, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Kolja21, please forgive me for the confusion caused. I have already tried to restore the initial situation, but I don't know if it has been completely restored (i.e. clearly dissociate the homonym page from the demonym). To try to explain, this involuntary merger occurred when the page was created on the Wikipedia edition concerned (and not on Wikidata), where I surely pressed the wrong procedure. --Ellicrum (bablute [...]) 13:27, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
There were two merges (Q97674394 and again Q97674394). I'll try to fix it. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:22, 8 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pages d'homonymie

edit

Bonjour Ellicrum,

Bob08 (talk) 15:56, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
