Descriptions

edit

Hello, I'm Madamebiblio. In case you didn't know, descriptions begin with a lowercase letter except when uppercase would normally be required or expected. Essentially, you should pretend that the description is appearing in the middle of a normal sentence, and then follow normal language rules. Most terms would not be capitalized if they appeared in the middle of a sentence. However terms such as proper nouns (e.g. the names of specific people, specific places, and specific titles) should be capitalized. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!  Madamebiblio (talk) 15:44, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Is there a pattern of item descriptions in languages other than German where I am making this error? I do add German descriptions for films/tv items quite often, but German specifically does have special capitalization rules, including the rule that all nouns are capitalized. Tks! Hello @RealityBites please see your editions today. This guideline only applies to German, you can check here the convention to descriptions in the other languages. Best regards. Madamebiblio (talk) 19:36, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect use of subclass of (P279)

edit

Hello –

This statement on "neighborhood" was incorrect. Errors with basic membership properties create false inferences. Before using this property, check the item descriptions, and make sure your statement is true in all cases. (In this case, "neighborhood" is an instance of (P31) designation, but neighborhoods do not constitute a subclass of (P279) designations.) Often, another property can accurately express the relationship you had in mind; in this case, instance of (P31) works better. You can search through available properties here. Thanks! Duplicate item of Q2

edit

Hello! Can you explain why you created Earth (Q131084628)? Huntster (t @ c) 17:24, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

It was an accident!! I am so sorry. Would it be best to merge it back with the main earth item? Tks! RealityBites (talk) 17:39, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll see if I can merge both Earth (Q131084628) and Earth (Q131085336) back into Earth (Q2) without breaking anything :) Huntster (t @ c) 17:44, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Merge successful! Huntster (t @ c) 17:48, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you SO MUCH. I was trying to show the "duplicate item" to some colleagues remotely by linking to the text on the page but accidently duplicated the item itself! Thank you so much for the quick catch and fix! Cheers RealityBites (talk) 17:54, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect use of distribution format (P437)

edit

Hello RealityBites, you are using distribution format (P437) in connection with theatrical release (Q47544021) (e.g. Nightfall (Q1159969)). This is not correct. P437 is for distribution by media type like DVD, Blu-Ray or Video. In principle is a specification as theatrical for nationwide releases not correct, too. This is standard. Regards -- Plexci (talk) 20:35, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Addition: The same in this example for incorrect use of significant event (P793). Correct ist place of publication (P291) -> 2024 Sundance Film Festival (Q118297011). --Plexci (talk) 20:44, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
