Motivation

Joint initiative of The Royal British Legion (Q1621811) and Commonwealth War Graves Commission (Q1117074) to create a commemorative record of every individual Commonwealth soldier who died in WWI. Many of these individuals meet our notability criteria; for example almost a thousand are listed under en:Category:British military personnel killed in World War I (it is not intended to import all records). The site gives biographical details including the person's military unit, service number, place of death, and memorials on which the person is commemorated.
