Motivation edit
Compared to the other items in their database (games, franchises, characters and companies), the number of platforms is obviously not so high. But it is still useful for cross-referencing as I stated in the other Glitchwave ID proposals. They have opted, at least during this open beta stage of the site, to only allow mods/admins and maybe trusted users to add or edit platforms, while other types of items can be added or edited by anyone with an account.
