Formatter URL | https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/$1 |
- Motivation
Given that our integration with Quora topic ID (P3417) was a success, I propose integrating with StackOverflow as well. StackOverflow is a good web citizen that licenses its content under CC by-sa 3.0. ChristianKl (talk) 18:00, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Oppose - see below.
Supporthowever there are many "stackexchanges" sites now in addition to the programming one it started with, would we want to support all of them or is there something more generic that works across them? See https://stackexchange.com/sites# for a list of the others. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:23, 14 June 2017 (UTC)- I would advocate to supporting multiple of them. I think that formatter-urls have enough value to have a separate property for every site. ChristianKl (talk) 18:27, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
- What format would these other URLs take? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:48, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
- for example https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/calculus for the id "calculus" on the math site, or https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/exposure on the photography site. This is example where allowing two parameters for formatters (and id's) would be helpful - a formatter URL like https://$1.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/$2 is the general form. Support as a full URL to accommodate other StackExchange sites. Mahir256 (talk) 21:37, 19 June 2017 (UTC)Oppose until resolving why we need two properties that redirect to the same place, per Pasleim. @ChristianKl, ArthurPSmith, Pigsonthewing: Mahir256 (talk) 15:34, 10 July 2017 (UTC)- Question How will this property be different from Stack Exchange tag (P1482)? --Pasleim (talk) 08:39, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
- Ha, we should have checked for that! And Python (Q28865) already has P1482 set. I've struck out my support for this property, P1482 seems perfectly sufficient (even though it is a URL and not an "ID", it resolves the issue of various different stack exchange sites nicely). ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:52, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
- I withdraw the proposal given the existence of Stack Exchange tag (P1482). ChristianKl (talk) 20:09, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
