  - You can write anything after it, it does the redirect: http://www.the-numbers.com/person/132190401-anything. Keeping the numerical part only, the real identifier, would help us with maintenance (with a strictly numerical regex you know if it's unique, while if we store the additional parts that are only there to support human readability, you can never be sure). – Máté (talk) 14:26, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. I oppose. I believe we should always take the shorter numerical part only. Because every time I see an ID that can be shortened, I do modify the formatter URL to let me do so. I did this yesterday to RealGM basketball player ID (P3957). So we shouldn't start this one one straight away with unnecessarily long IDs. Thierry Caro (talk) 12:40, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
