- Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with wikidata's policies. Is there a precedent for only non-living people properties? What's the rationale. please excuse my naïveté. BrokenSegue (talk) 22:27, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- @BrokenSegue: See Wikidata:Living people for the policy - however all that should be needed is to make it an instance of property that may violate privacy (Q44601380). ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:23, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- We generally avoid making properties for SSN and similar. --- Jura 21:29, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Sure but this is public information that you can lookup and is often reported by the media when people enter prison. BrokenSegue (talk) 22:29, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- If so, maybe you could ask them to download the entire database and see why it's not possible. --- Jura 22:31, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ask the BoP? I mean we could probably get it via the FOIA. Or we could dump it one-by-one via https://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/ I don't get the concern. If someone is notable enough to be in wikidata then their crime could be in wikidata (through P1399) and then someone could just lookup to BoP number trivially. Also even if we had the entire database the join wouldn't be free. BrokenSegue (talk) 22:37, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- It seems we have different views on this. --- Jura 22:40, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: Is your objection that the BOP should not maintain a publically-accessible database of inmates that is reliable and irrevocable, or that we should not link to that source? U+1F360 (talk) 03:45, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- No, it's that they don't provide a downloadable database, so we shouldn't either. --- Jura 09:45, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

- Support This is public information and is a reliable source. The data in the source is also irrevoccable. U+1F360 (talk) 03:40, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- Support with a little more work, the current url system does not work. --RAN (talk) 22:04, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
